Who said floating in air like a bird was not fun? I have always wanted to skydive, but have put this off till my kids are a bit older. Recently, I got a gift to go to iFly in Union City, CA with my son. It was a blast and more than I could have imagined.

iFly, simply put is flying. They have a vertical wind tunnel that moves air up in a vertical column, creating an indoor skydiving experience. You will basically soar on a column of air inside a wind tunnel. It is as cool as cool gets.

iFLY uses superior technology and is unique; multiple fans located at the top of the flight chamber produce a wall-to-wall airflow that is smooth and fun to fly in. The airflow is totally controllable; this, combined with their professional instructors, makes for the most exciting flight experience possible.

You can buy certain amounts …click below to read more of time to experience this flying experience. We had a total of 4 minutes each. You suit up in a jump suit, helmet, and goggles. You walk to the chamber door and fall forward arms out, legs bent like you see in skydiving videos. The instructor guides you to the center and adjusts your body as necessary until you are floating on your own at various heights off the ground. It takes a few seconds to let your body relax and feel like you are free from gravity’s pull.

Towards the end of our second two-minute flight we were able to go tandem with our instructor and spin up higher and in circles around the tunnel.

After each group session, the instructors perform some amazing air aerobatics from flying up like Superman to walking down the side of the walls to doing spins and flips 20 feet off the ground while floating on air. iFly offers advanced classes teaching individuals how do some of these amazing acrobatic skills. They even have unique competitions, like the indoor skydiving competition happening in May where they will have formation flying, freestyle and vertical formation flying.

If you were looking for something different to do that is super exciting and safe, I would recommend trying iFly.
